Vote for Jim Johnston
A strong voice for Middlesex-London, committed to green values and community support.
Jim Johnston for Middlesex-London
I am Jim Johnston. I am running for the Green Party for the position of Member of Parliament in the riding of Middlesex-London.
I have been a strong Green supporter since the turn of the century, and we have never needed Green values more that we do right now. Middlesex-London needs a meaningful voice in Parliament and support for strong community organizations, more local employment and a government that is concerned about people over profits. In the Green Party, we are elected to represent our constituents first and our votes are not “whipped” by party demands, unlike larger parties.
For the last 16 years, I have been a professor in the International Business Program at the Lawrence Kinlin School of Business at Fanshawe college, where I teach market entry, ethics and other subjects. I enjoy teaching and the process of coaching others. I have had the good fortune to change a lot of lives for the better.
Previously, I owned a software development and consulting company in London for 18 years. I enjoyed my time as an entrepreneur and the satisfaction of building something from nothing.
I have two grandchildren. I try to see the world through their eyes, so I will do everything I can to make this world a better place for them. We owe it to future generations to leave them a better economy, a better society and a better planet.
I have lived in Middlesex-London for about 30 years, including Lucan, Ilderton and Poplar Hill. I have coached baseball here and volunteered with the London Dressage Association. I am a musician (Simple Joy) and composer, as well as having a private pilot licence. During Covid, my partner Carol and I did a series of free concerts on Thursday afternoons on our front porch. It was an opportunity for our neighbours and friends to get together in a safe, distanced way during those crazy times. We did this for three years.
I want to change how government works, and I want to restore people's faith in politicians. I hope that I can count on your help to make a difference.
Elbows up, Canada!

Why vote Green this time around?
We have all seen the polls. We all know how this election is going to end. Why not take this opportunity to vote with your heart?
I have been voting Green for over 25 years, and I have never felt a moment of regret. The Green Party has a comprehensive, long term vision for Canada that includes taking care of the people, building a strong independent economy, being financially responsible and acting as stewards of the planet.
So, I ask you to ask yourself the difficult question? Why did I vote the way I did last election? Wouldn't it be better to tell the world that I support Green values by adding one more vote to the total?
In my earlier days, we had support from as many as 3,000 voters in Lambton-Kent-Middlesex. I expect that there are more people than that in Middlesex-London who believe in creating a better country, a better society and a safer planet.Help prove me right!
Here is the other reason! If we receive 10% of the vote (about 4,000 votes) we earn a rebate of 60% of our election expenses from the government, which gives us a head start on the next election. This is one of the primary funding mechanisms for the large political parties. Help us join that party!
